Music has been a part of my life ever since I can remember. My parents believed strongly in the benefits of learning an instrument, so at the age of five I started violin lessons and I continue to play to this day. Learning to play an instrument changed the way I view the world and how I live my day-to-day life. It developed both creative and analytical parts of my brain and it taught me that with great discipline comes great reward. Through music, I’ve been able to bring delight, peace, calm, reflection, healing and inspiration to people of all ages and backgrounds. It’s an irreplaceable experience that has brought me so much joy in life. CMI holds a special place in my heart – partly because my family has been involved with the organization for years, but also because it’s my desire to encourage others, especially young children, on their musical journey. The discipline, hard work and creativity necessary to learn an instrument can quite literally change the trajectory of a child’s life, as it did mine.
After graduating from Texas A&M University (where I played violin for the university orchestra), I moved to Colorado for one year then back home to San Antonio for my current job where I helped launch an independently owned fine jewelry store. I am currently a full-time sales associate and manage the custom jewelry department. I am a member of Impact San Antonio (an all-women’s non-profit that gives away over $500,000 in grants each year) and a number of young adult communities in San Antonio. In addition to music, I grew up riding horses competitively. Horses are both fun and therapeutic for me.
