C4 Trio

Quartet

C4 Trío is considered today one of the most innovative and original musical proposals of the Venezuelan and Latin American music scene. With its unusual format; three Venezuelan Cuatros and an electric Bass, they have achieved a unique sound, rooted in Venezuelan popular music but with strong touches of jazz, Latin music, world music and pop. For this reason, C4 Trío has explored the most diverse musical styles without complexes, surprising with the virtuosity of their performances, the creativity of their arrangements and the immense variety of sound resources they extract from the Venezuelan Cuatro.

C4 Trio was founded in 2005 by the cuatristas Jorge Glem, Edward Ramirez and Hector Molina, who were later joined by bassist Rodner Padilla and later Gustavo Marquez. They have shared musical experiences with artists of the most diverse tendencies, among which the following stand out: Carlos Vives, Soledad Bravo, Marta Gomez, Oscar D' Leon, Guaco, Serenata Guayanesa, Desorden Público, Luis Enrique, Rafael "Pollo" Brito, Anat Cohen, El Cuarteto, Edmar Castaneda, Puerto Candelaria, Eddy Marcano, Aquiles Baez, Alexis Cardenas, Servando Primera, Francisco Pacheco, Betsayda Machado, Marcial Isturiz, Cheo Hurtado, Ruben Blades, Gualberto Ibarreto, among others.

They have six albums to their credit and a commemorative DVD of their 10 years of artistic life with the participation of an important group of Venezuelan artists. Their album “Gualberto+C4” (2012), made in collaboration with the famous Venezuelan singer Gualberto Ibarreto, was nominated for the 2013 Latin Grammy for Best Folk Music Album. In 2014, his album “De Repente” (2013), made jointly with Venezuelan singer Rafael “Pollo” Brito, won a Latin Grammy for Best Sound Engineering for an Album. Also the album “Pa Fuera” (2017) made with the Venezuelan Ska band Desorden Público obtained a nomination at the 60th Grammy Award 2018 for Best Latin, Rock and Alternative Album and his most recent production “Tiempo al tiempo” (2019), made with the Nicaraguan singer Luis Enrique, obtained a Latin Grammy for Best Folk Music Album and Best Arrangement for the song “Sirena”, as well as a nomination for Best Tropical Latin Album at the 62nd Grammy Award 2020. In 2021, the EP “Back to 4” was released, the full album of which will be available in May 2022. “Back to 4” is an album co-produced with the North American producer Michael League and will be released under the Ground Up Music label.

Since its founding, C 4 Trío has maintained an intense concert schedule on the most important stages in America and Europe, always showing the versatility and universality of the Venezuelan Cuatro.
